I really enjoyed the analogy of teaching as performing the job of a taxi driver that Dr. Lowell presented here. It also made me consider the analogy to active learning, we may be able to drive them to a location to learn but that doesn’t mean that students won’t sit on the curb and smoke cigarettes (allegorically).
So as cabbies we need to make the ride interesting and engaging so the students will want to go to the places that you want to take them.
